My name is Stephanie Wilson. I’m running for Council in the District of North Vancouver.

I believe that everyone deserves a place to live and thrive.I believe that we’re stronger together and that everyone deserves a safe, inclusive community.I believe that mindful decisions today protect these lands and waters for future generations.Most importantly, I believe that no one should be left behind.

Housing for everyone

Everyone deserves to have a home in the District of North Vancouver.

  • Diverse housing options that meet the needs of everyone, from supportive and nonmarket social housing to rentals to market homes

  • Building for a lifetime: for young person looking for your first apartment, families looking for more space to play, or an older adults hoping to downsize

  • Strong support for renters so they have confidence that they can build a future here

  • Neighbourhoods that foster connections, including ground-level space for businesses or services, safe streets for all users, and spaces to gather and build community

Better transportation networks

We cannot simply pave our way out of transportation woes. I personally use public transit to get around, and I’m passionate about making public transit work better for North Vancouver: shorter waits, less crowding, better reliability, and fewer delays.

  • Continued advocacy for the RapidBus and Bus Rapid Transit expansion that Translink is currently implementing (R2 expansion to Metrotown) or planning to complete (RapidBus or BRT to Lynn Valley)

  • Improving transit service to underserved neighbourhoods

  • Expanding active transportation networks to keep people moving

A strong workforce

I’m proud to be a union member and I believe in the power of union labour.

  • Procuring from union workers whenever possible

  • Supporting fair wages policies for contract workers

  • Increasing availability of affordable housing so workers can live in the community they build rather than commute long distances

More sports & recreation opportunities

Sports & recreation are such an important part of the community. However, access to facilities like ice rinks and pools can be difficult, and this limits the number of people who can participate.

  • Expanding access to sports facilities so more people can join in

  • Ensuring that recreation opportunities remain affordable for everyone

  • Supporting sports organizations and federations to host more competitions in the District

Collaboration with integrity

I want a strong relationship with Sḵwx̱wú7mesh Úxwumixw and səlilwətaɬ. I cannot represent a municipality without recognizing how that land came to be and how colonialism continues to harm Indigenous communities. Reconciliation is a verb and I am committed to that work.

Climate action today for a greener future

The ongoing climate crisis is a real threat. On a municipal level, we see an increasing risk of wildfires in interface areas, increasing drought, increasingly destructive atmospheric rivers. Municipal decisions must be made with robust environmental protections at front of mind. A greener future also means holding the drivers of climate change to account.

An inclusive community for everyone

The District of North Vancouver should be safe and welcoming for everyone, no matter where you’re from, what language you speak, who you love, what faith your practice, how much money you make, or how a disability might impact your life. I’ve fought for inclusion for years and this work continues!

About

I was born and raised in Prince George, BC and spent several summers living in Wells, BC. I turned a degree in Political Science and International Studies and a background in writing into a 17-year career in mental health literacy and knowledge translation within the mental health and substance use sector. Through this work, I see first-hand how policy decisions impact individuals and their families and how the right community supports change lives.I’ve been an activist around the Lower Mainland for many years. I continue to research and discuss right-wing extremism in BC, but I’ve centred my activism in my own community. In 2023, a Thursday afternoon Freedom Convoy rally on Mountain Highway overpass began to attack 2SLGBTQIA+ rights. I stood on that overpass almost every Thursday for a year and half. I fought for action from the District of North Vancouver and the Province. I co-authored the North Shore Anti-Hate Pledge, which was endorsed by the District of North Vancouver in 2025. Now I am running for Council for the opportunity to do more.
